Shimshalis’ woes and GB govt’s appalling apathy

While Islamabad and GB governments are boasting of the achievements of the Shimshali climbers and using their stories for the promotion of tourism and woo foreign tourists, they seem least concerned about the sufferings of the people of the valley particularly the ordeal they have been through on daily basis while travelling on the treacherous road.
The 50km road constructed by the people of the valley themselves is in bad shape. Women, aged people, children and patients have to travel on it putting their lives at greater risk especially in summer season as it is battered and in precarious condition.
The passengers have to cross a stream at Purk Zherekh wadding through the flood water due to lack of bridge on the stream. The drivers drive their vehicles through the strong currents of the flood water and get stuck in the middle of the water. Time and again people have highlighted the issue on social media and informed the relevant department and elected representatives but they are unmoved of the agonies of the people and not taking it seriously.
They waste millions on their promotional events and party events in Islamabad but offer lame excuse of shortage of funds.

The people of Shimshal are decrying the apathy of the government in solving their 20 years longstanding issue of widening and improving the road and constructing a ridge at Purk Zhrek.

Moreover, the current flash flood due to the climate change and global warming have worsened the situation and exacerbated the sufferings of the marginalized community increasing the risk to their lives and livelihoods.
