"Skeptics have - somewhat unkindly - noted that the first appearance of this troublesome ghost was coincidental with the approach of the date originally set for the completion of the work."
Nationwide's Glyn Worsnip reports from a building site in Richmond, Surrey where workers carrying out alteration work on a shop have experienced a series of mysterious events. Builders at the site have been struck by flying objects, ladders have been inexplicably knocked out from under people, light bulbs have fallen from the ceiling, nails have hurtled across rooms, shovels have toppled down stairs and there has even been a report of a man being dragged screaming across the cellar floor.
Could this be mere incompetence? Carelessness? Or is something sinister afoot?
Perhaps the key to understanding these weird events lies with 'Albert' - a name that was found scrawled onto a toolbox, and the name the workers have since given to the entity in the building. Albert told one carpenter - who has since quit the job in terror - to feed a choc ice to a toilet. What does it all mean?
Clip taken from Nationwide, originally broadcast on BBC One, Thursday 25 November, 1976.
