On the 31 December 1944, the German Army launched Operation Nordwind, a large-scale counter-offensive into North-Eastern France. As their offensive began to stall, the Germans deployed their latest tank onto the battlefield - the Jagdtiger. Weighing up to 70tonnes, and fielding a 128mm main gun, the first Jagdtigers went into action on the 9 January 1945.
