Dr. Ronald Marler received his bachelor’s degree in 1971 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1973 from K-State. A short time after graduating, Marler joined the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps as a captain and then returned to K-State to complete a Ph.D. in veterinary pathology in 1978. Marler, who served as dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at K-State from 1994 to 1997, is recognized as an expert in non-clinical drug development, pharmaceutical pathology, and toxicology.
The Kansas State University Alumni Fellows Program , sponsored by the Dean's Council, the President's Office and the Alumni Association, recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers.
Since 1983 the program has brought successful alumni back to campus to meet with students and faculty to share their expertise in the classroom and at informal settings.
Fellows are chosen to return as distinguished guests and as mentors, friends and counselors. They are honored in recognition of the ultimate measure of a university: not curricula, facilities or programs, but the quality of its alumni. In the College of Veterinary Medicine, each Alumni Fellow delivers a lecture to talk about his or her respective career path and the impact of earning a DVM degree at K-State
