With just a few small adjustments I gave Wicked more contrast and a new color grade that made it pop a lot more than it did in cinemas. Demonstrating this, I also try to get to the bottom of WHY everything seems so much "darker" - it's not just lighting or inherent to digital or color grading - a fairly modern invention. It's an entire drift away from the aesthetics established when shooting on film and Hollywood's bizarre new aversion to strong contrasts.
