People & Places of North Mayo Video Series: Fr.Peyton Memorial Centre, Attymass

In this episode of the People & Places of North Mayo video series, we visit the Father Peyton Memorial Centre and meet with Fr. Steve Gibson and Padraic Walsh. This unique centre is situated in scenic village of Attymass not far from Ballina in North Mayo. Celebrating its 25th year this year, the centre commemorates Father Patrick Peyton, the “Rosary Priest” and is dedicated to telling the fascinating story of Venerable Father Patrick Peyton, CSC through archival video footage, memorabilia, and guided tours.

Attymass is an area that is surrounded by natural beauty! With lakes, mountains and stunning loop walks, the Fr.Peyton Centre is the perfect place to park, explore and return to for a lovely cup of tea and a scone!

At the centre you will hear stories from Fr.Peytons humble beginnings on the family farm in Carracastle, Attymass to his life travelling the globe promoting his message of Peace and Family Unity. Discover how the stars of the time, Bing Crosby, James Stewart and Maureen O’Hara, to name but a few put their considerable star power behind him and his crusade. He spoke to 26 million people face to face before he died on June 3rd, 1992! This is a great place to come and escape the busyness of daily life!
