William Richardson Davie at the Battle of Charlotte

At the Battle of Charlotte reenactment and living history weekend, living historian Taylor Osborne portrayed William Richardson Davie—Revolutionary War officer, founder of the University of North Carolina, and “Father of the Tar Heels.” Through his first-person presentation, Osborne brought Davie’s story to life and helped put a face to the people of the Revolution, sharing their courage, leadership, and enduring legacy in the fight for independence. This powerful living history moment allowed visitors to experience history as if they were hearing it directly from Davie himself.
