TAMING A TOUGH CROWD IN THE WORLD AS WE'VE KNOWN IT - April 27, 1961...America's 35th President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, handled the media with confidence and respect during his brief time in office. He dealt with matters seriously but he was not shy about expressing his sense of humor. In a world dominated by print media, his inclusion of radio and television reporters into his news briefings eventually leveled the playing field for those electronic mediums - a fact which he poked fun at newspaper publishers about during these remarks in New York City...
