In April 2007, a 12-meter catamaran called the Kaz II was found abandoned in the ocean off the coast of Queensland, Australia. When investigators boarded the vessel on Friday, they found that the engine was running, a laptop was on, the radio and GPS were functioning, and a meal was prepared and ready to eat, but the experienced three-man crew was nowhere to be found. All the sails were up but one was badly shredded, while three life jackets and survival equipment, including an emergency beacon, were found on board.
