I Visited ROCHESTER In Kent & It Totally BLEW ME AWAY!

This could be the BEST place to visit in the winter!  Rochester is a town situated on the River Medway in the north of Kent and is a real hidden gem. In this festive 4K walking tour I’ll be taking in the sights, visiting the tourist attractions and showing you all the things to see and do in this picturesque historic town.  It was my first visit and I will definitely be returning.
 
Walk with me as I explore the high street (lined with breathtaking old buildings, independent businesses, antiques, restaurants and cafes), round the gardens of Eastgate House, which includes Charles Dickens’s Swiss Chalet where he wrote some of his most famous works, the spectacular Rochester Cathedral and the landmark Rochester Castle which dominates the skyline.  There really is something to do for all the family in this town bursting with history.  Of course along the way I get a bean-to-cup coffee and a beer at one of the many pubs on offer.
 
That’s not all though – the main attraction here is the Christmas market! Only open a few weekends of the year, Rochester really does turn into a winter wonderland!  The market itself has over 80 stalls, food places, mulled wine, mulled cider, fairground rides and a chance to visit Santa himself.  The annual Rochester Dickensian Christmas Festival was sadly cancelled this year due to adverse weather, but on my visit there were plenty of costumed Victorian characters wandering the streets, which coupled with the Salvation Army brass band creates one of the best experiences you’ll find this Christmas. 
 
Perfect for a day trip from London or a short break, come and see why this amazing town is one of the best places to go in Kent.
