We happened to record this just before Ed Olson passed away on July 15, 2024. He's the "O" in Hilo, Hawaii's O.K. Farms, and our guest in this video is Troy Keolanui, who is the "K."
Troy is operations manager of O.K. Farms, part of the Edmund C. Olson Trust's extensive holding of more than 15,000 acres dedicated to sustainable Hawaii agriculture. Troy is, himself, truly dedicated to Ed Olson's vision of preserving the land, making it sustainable, and giving back to the community.
We talk about how Richard and Troy share some of the same philosophies about farming and the future, the responsibility Troy feels to keep O.K. Farms in farming that works, and what's happening on the farm. Watch to see why both Richard and Troy think the future looks bright.
