We figured it would be interesting to run a test and find out if you could guess which mic is the Sennheiser MD-421 or the Slate ML-2. Leave your answers and analysis is in the comments.
So many records have been recorded with the venerable Sennheiser MD-421 going back to the 1960's. The 421 has been a favorite for recording drums, percussion, and other instruments. On this mic shootout, we paired it against the Slate ML-2 which has modeling software to mimic the sound capture of the Sennheiser MD-421 (which is more than 3 TIMES the cost of the Slate ML-2).
Comparison results and additional mics will be shared on a follow up video.
