Thank you for your interest, and we are sincerely delighted that you’ve found this place—it truly warms our hearts! :)
In August 2022, the grand stage at Mežaparks in Riga hosted a spectacular performance that uniquely combined two traditions: song and dance. The concert performance, "The Song Dances. The Dance Sings" (Dziesma Dejo. Deja Skan), gathered over 6,000 participants, including 14 musicians, 63 choirs, and 105 dance groups from all over Latvia, as well as 10 choirs and dance groups from abroad. Participants showcased both well-known repertoire and specially created works for this event.
The creator and producer, Edžus Arums, shared his thoughts:
"When the first 'The Song Dances. The Dance Sings' had 'settled,' I realized that our team still had more to say. It’s clear that we will dig deeper, go further, and continue to explore and innovate. We want to find our own unique path. That’s why, in August 2025, at the Mežaparks Grand Stage in Riga, we will present our second season."
The choreographer and artistic director, Agris Daņiļevičš, revealed:
"It’s simply time for a second date. And considering that dance is a language that can be understood without words, we decided to open our doors to our neighbors. With great excitement, we invite you—Lithuanians and Estonians—to join our gathering!"
The performance will feature dancers, choirs, folklore groups, and untamed folk dancers (danči). This time, we are also delighted to welcome dancers from neighboring countries. The directorial theme of the performance revolves around our mighty river, the Daugava—or as it was known in ancient writings, Düna—which also reflects the selected repertoire. The event will include a ritual section dedicated to the Düna and playful dances designed for folklore groups and danči. The artistic directors of the dance epic are Agris Daņiļevičš and Mārtiņš Klišāns, with the musical direction led by Uģis Prauliņš.
