In this episode we take a look at some exciting tourist spots in Limerick including Curraghchase Forest Park, Lough Gur and the Frank McCourt Museum. We also take a look back at the recent Africa Day celebrations in Limerick.
Lough Gur is one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites. You will be captivated by the beauty, charm and tranquillity of this ancient place. The visitor centre tells the story of Pre-Celtic Ireland dating back to 3000 BC. The interpretation includes a slide show, imaginative exhibition models and interpretative panels.
Curraghchase Forest Park is a fantastic amenity, recently upgraded, for all the family to enjoy. The Park covers 313 hectares of mixed woodlands, park land and lakes which together provide a rich habitat for a diverse range of animals and plants. There are a number of looped way marked trails in the park to suit all visitors.
The Frank McCourt Museum is a quirky little museum is housed in Leamy House, formerly Leamy School, the school Frank attended during his childhood, as described in his best-selling memoir; Angel's Ashes.
Limerick enjoyed the sights and sounds of its African communities with a fun filled weekend of colourful events to celebrate Africa Day over the weekend of 25th - 27th May. A series of FREE family events took place showcasing many aspects of African culture, including music, sport, games, literature and art.
