Speaking from Davos, Trump claimed the understanding would give the United States “total access” in the Arctic, prompting him to drop tariffs scheduled to take effect on February 1. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the talks focused on strengthening collective security in the Arctic, while insisting that Greenland’s sovereignty was not part of the discussion. Denmark, however, has cautioned that NATO cannot negotiate on its behalf, underscoring lingering uncertainty over what was actually agreed and whether the Greenland dispute has truly been resolved.
