Gloucester to Bendemeer – the Ultimate Country Adventure Ride

It just keeps getting better!
On another beautiful blue-sky morning, we headed to Wingham for breakfast before riding up Comboyne Rd towards the Oxley.
But to get to Wingham we took the exciting and very enjoyable Bakers Creek Rd which takes you to Bundook, then Callaghans Creek Rd, Tiri Rd and Nowendoc Rd to Wingham.
After a bit of sealed riding, Comboyne Rd deteriorates to an enjoyable twisty-gravel climb with potholes, ruts and some interesting riding. After it crosses from the Mid-Coast Council to the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council area, the road suddenly smoothens into a wider, well graded road — renames as Wingham Rd and takes you to Comboyne. I loved the rougher Mid-Coast section, Toni enjoyed the latter.
Near Comboyne, we turned onto the scenic, sealed Innes View Rd which is an enjoyable ride to the best road in the area — Tom’s Creek Rd. Tom’s Creek Rd features amazing views as it descends down the mountain with a number of tight switchbacks — before opening up as an easy going wide graded road.
Despite the Oxley Hwy still having several sections of roadworks we had a great car free ride through to Walcha.
The forecasted heavy rain caused us to change our plans and ride some of Monday’s route in reverse. Instead of riding the very enjoyable Bendemeer Station Road, we headed via Uralla, to Lana and Danehurst Roads — some great rides, and then onto Airlie Stock Route Rd which was a more open ride though included a few sandy sections, one in particular that took us by surprise at the bottom of a hill. The GS did its job and saved the day, ensuring that we would ride into the Bendemeer Hotel with a big smile on our faces after a great day of riding.
