As online harassment, cyberbullying, deepfakes, and non-consensual image sharing rise, ending digital violence is no longer optional — it’s urgent.
This year, as we join the global community to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls and lend our voices to the call for safer digital spaces, the theme “𝗨𝗡𝗶𝗧𝗘 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀” reminds us of a growing frontier of harm that blurs the line between online and offline danger.
In this special feature, Olivia Aniunoh, Nextier’s Senior Policy, Legal and Research Analyst, sits down with Ramatu Ada Ochekliye — storyteller, advocate, and founder of Shades of Us. — whose work amplifies the voices of women, girls, and underserved communities across Africa. She breaks down the shifting landscape of digital abuse, the legal and institutional gaps, the responsibilities of tech platforms, and the power of narrative in driving social change.
This is more than a discussion; it is a call to action for governments, platforms, communities, and each of us.
