The Fiat 238 was Fiat's first front wheel drive van, in production between 1967 and 1983. It employed the running units of the Autobianchi Primula, the first FWD car of Fiat.
I used to have a Fiat 238E camper van with a 1438 cc petrol engine running on LPG. The FWD layout with a front transverse leaf spring and rear torsion bars gave it excellent road holding. It drove as if it were on rails and, even if it has the rear camper van bodywork, it wasn't bothered much by side winds.
