Derek Haines and his nephew, Tom Carlin, are trekking the GR70 in order to raise funds for Meals on Wheels, to help them build a facility to run their charitable organization and prepare meals for the elderly in need.
In 2023, Meals on Wheels delivered 79,643 meals to needy senior citizens in the Cayman Islands. They also provided those in need with supplemental groceries, hurricane emergency kits, home repairs, and wellness checks. They accomplished all of this despite not having their own location to manage logistics and prepare meals.
