My Aviary Part 38, Mijn Volière, The hunt for the mice continues, De jacht op de muizen gaat verder

I keep looking for the mice because I am still finding droppings. The cats' behaviour also shows that they are still around. However, they cannot go outside now that I have closed everything, and I break down the aviary several times to search, but in vain. I order a mousetrap that is not dangerous for the birds, but so far no mouse has entered. One day I decide to get some new plants for the aviary, especially a new bamboo, because the birds have picked the previous one completely bare. I take the old one with pot and soil out of the aviary to give it a new life at the back of the garden. Fortunately, I don't change it in the aviary itself, because there was a nest of about ten mice in the pot! They had entered through the too-large drain hole at the bottom. In my surprise, I forget to catch them before they crawl out of the pot, but the cats don't mind! I hope they can catch them all so they don't return to their birthplace!

Ik blijf zoeken naar de muizen, omdat ik nog steeds uitwerpselen vind. Het gedrag van de katten laat ook zien dat ze nog steeds in de buurt zijn. Ze kunnen nu echter niet meer naar buiten nu ik alles heb afgesloten, en ik breek de volière meerdere keren af om te zoeken, maar tevergeefs. Ik bestel een muizenval die niet gevaarlijk is voor de vogels, maar tot nu toe is er geen muis binnengekomen. Op een dag besluit ik om wat nieuwe planten te halen voor de volière, vooral een nieuwe bamboe, omdat de vogels de vorige helemaal kaal geplukt hebben. Ik neem de oude met pot en aarde uit de volière om hem een nieuw leven te geven achter in de tuin. Gelukkig wissel ik hem niet in de volière zelf, want er zat een nest met ongeveer tien muizen in de pot! Ze waren binnengekomen via het te grote afvoergat onderaan. In mijn verbazing vergeet ik ze te vangen voordat ze uit de pot kruipen, maar de katten hebben er geen bezwaar tegen! Ik hoop dat ze ze allemaal kunnen vangen zodat ze niet terugkeren naar hun geboorteplaats!
