Ladies and gents repeat after me-protein/ protein powder will not damage your kidneys.
Also I don’t consider whey protein a supplement. It’s food. Would you consider yogurt or chicken a supplement? Don’t think so.
Anyway, I’ve had doctors saying to my clients that protein powder is bad for health . Meanwhile they were eating a crappy diet and were sedentary. Makes no sense.
QUESTION
Is protein diet bad for your kidneys?
Is protein dangerous?
What are side effects of protein supplementation?
Is whey protein safe?
ANSWER
Answering all these myths for once and all.
Studies published in the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism PROVES that high protein diet has ZERO side effects on renal and hepatic function.
Question
Is protein just for improving muscle?
Answer
Many researchers suggest that athletes do not have to consume more than 0.8g of protein per pound of body weight (1.5-1.8g/kg). This is based on the idea that protein only has an impact on muscle size. However, Dr Jose Antonio has recently challenged this belief. He found that consuming 255 to 165 grams of protein/day led to similar muscle gains, but more fat loss. Despite the fact that high protein group consumed more calories (2600 vs 2100 calories). Raising calories via protein may lead to simultaneous muscle gain and fat loss.
