Ben Burgis debunks terrible arguments in defense of Trump's actions in Los Angeles,lays out how the left should approach the administration's response to "riots" in LA, and gets into the class politics of the issue. Many right-wing populists have started claiming that the Left or the workers' movement had always been anti-immigration (or at least for ruthless enforcement of existing laws), and that pro-immigration "globalist" views are a recent woke deviation. But that's a severe oversimplification at best and an outright distortion at worst.
