Passengers riding the escalator in TPA's new Red Express Curbsides building will experience what it’s like to ascend through the clouds. The display includes three dimensional cubes which utilize an array of opacity-changing composite liquid crystal materials that simulate the dynamic cloud formations and weather patterns of the skies above. Similar to looking out of an airplane window, the light will change with altitude, and the clouds will be displaced by the movement of observers on the escalator.
