Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre Launch (Livestream recording)

UWA and Minderoo Foundation have a shared vision to ensure our oceans are thriving, healthy and sustained. Through Minderoo’s Flourishing Ocean’s Initiative and UWA’s Ocean’s Institute, together we are pushing new boundaries of oceans knowledge.

Minderoo Foundation and UWA have partnered to form The Minderoo UWA Deep Sea Research Centre to improve our understanding of the deepest, unexplored parts of the ocean, particularly in the Indian Ocean, which is the least explored and understood basin on earth. The Centre aims to create a world-leading research hub in Western Australia that will generate new and expansive hadal (deep sea) knowledge whilst shaping our understanding of the impact that the deep ocean has on our lives.

The Centre was officially launched on February 1st, 2022.
