In this video, we first review which pairs can be split. We then review the rules for splitting sevens (7-9 or better), eights (7-8 or better) and nines (9-9 or better).
This lesson covers the rule for splitting Teens and Days. You will split Teens and Days when you can make your hand 6-8 or better or when the other two tiles are nine (9) and eleven (11). Remember to balance your hand (eg. when the third and fourth tiles are eight (8) and nine (9), play gong/wong instead of 7/Bo. Also note that you don't split your hand if it reduces it (eg. when the third and fourth tiles are four (4) and gee (3). You play 7/Bo and NOT 6/8.
Practice reading hands by keeping one of the pairs and then flipping over two tiles with it. Determine if you will split the hand or not. Always read your hand once you set it up.
We go through 8 hands and set them up house way and finish with three hands of the comparison drill.
Thanks for watching and keep practicing!
