Bangladeshi Traditional Beef Bhuna Recipe!
Ingredients:
• 2&1/2 kg beef ribs, meat with bone meticulously selected for optimal flavour and tenderness.
• 4 sticks of cinnamon
• 2 star anise for their distinct aromatic essence
• 5-6 bay leaves
• 8-10 green cardamom
• 8-10 cloves
• 10-12 curry leaves
• 10-15 black peppercorns
• 1 black cardamom pod
• 1/2 mace
• 1/2 tsp black cumin (sahi jeera)
• 5-6 green chillies
• 13 whole cloves of garlic
• 2 tbsp grated ginger
• 8-10 small-sized onions, roughly chopped
• 1 tsp homemade freshly ground garam masala
• 2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
• 3 tsp coriander powder
• 2 tsp turmeric powder
• 2 tsp cumin powder
• 1 tbsp salt
• 1 tsp nutmeg and mace paste
• 1/4 cup cooking oil
• Fresh Coriander and green chillies
Method:
1. Begin by adding 1/4 cup of cooking salt to the meat, ensuring it’s well mixed. Allow it to sit for 15-30 minutes. This step helps tenderise the meat and enhances its juiciness
2. Meanwhile, prepare all the other ingredients.
3. After 30 minutes, thoroughly wash the meat with cold water, rinsing it a few times. Drain the water from the meat by placing it in a colander.
4. In a medium cooking pot, combine the meat with all the mentioned ingredients
5. Mix the ingredients well using your hands.
6. Cover the pot and let it cook on high heat for 10 minutes.
7. After 10 minutes, uncover the pot and give it a good mix.
8. Cover the pot again, reduce the heat to low flame, and let it cook for about 2 hours or until the meat is soft. Stir occasionally.
9. Once the beef is cooked and the gravy has thickened, garnish with fresh Coriander and green chillies.
10. Serve this exquisite Bangladeshi Traditional Beef Bhuna piping hot alongside fragrant naan or steamed rice, allowing your guests to savour every mouthful of this culinary masterpiece.
Tips:
Check the dish in between and stir occasionally to ensure even cooking. If needed, add water during cooking, although it might not be necessary. This dish pairs exceptionally well with hot boiled rice.
