Occult Secrets!: Transcendental Magic: Transmutations, Black Magic, and, Bewitchments (pt 8)

Éliphas Lévi Zahed, born Alphonse Louis Constant (8 February 1810 – 31 May 1875), was a French esotericist, Freemason, poet, and writer. Initially pursuing a career in the Catholic Church, he abandoned the priesthood in his mid-twenties and became a ceremonial magician. At the age of 40, he began professing knowledge of the occult.He wrote over 20 books on magic, Kabbalah, alchemical studies, and occultism. He is also credit with creating the classical Baphomet image.

I recently stumbled accross a pdf of his masterpiece, "Transcendental Magic," and was absolutely blown away. It instantly struck me as the single best work on the subjects of Hermeticism, Alchemy, Magick, and initiation that I have ever encountered. The writing is concise and eloquent on a level that is rarely scene. More importantly, Levi is grounded in the sciences, devoid of superstition, and does a masterful job of delineating the knowledge of the sacred sciences. In fact, speaking of science, in the first half of the book he anticipates and describes in depth numerous recent discoveries in physics and neuroscience, as well as connecting these phenomena with ancient systems that also anticipated these recent revelations of science.

As an initiate of several traditions, both in South American and Hermetic lineages, and a student of the sciences, I realized that reading this masterpiece with my own commentary would be a tremendous service to those interested in these subjects . At the moment a tremendous amount of this ancient occult knowledge is being verified by science. The impact of this is manifold: having knowledge of the mechanisms that lie behind what could be called parapsychological phenomena, or even magick, will help to allay harmful superstitions, and, perhaps most importantly it will help humanity to expand beyond the restrictive parameters of the materialist paradigm.

I am tremendously excited for this series of streams. It will be an incredible journey of limitless value to the earnest seeker.
