A Crass Course in modelling a Harlequin Domino Field

Today on Crass Course I show you how I model the Harlequin Domino Field for my miniatures. The holo suit effect is holographic and shimmering in nature, and can certainly be adapted to suit other armies or specific minis besides the Aeldari. The Warhammer 40k Harlequins are simply the freehand army I wanted to paint, and my itch for special effects merely encouraged me to try my hand at it.

The eight Harlequin Kill Team members shown are the first warhammer minis I ever made with the Domino Field, and apparently one of the first anywhere to feature the prismatic blur as a modelled effect. I did some searching and found no real inspiration or pioneer, so I just experimented and wound up with this. Very happy with the result honestly!

As a small note about lighting in the video, I botched the exposure on a few of the outdoor shots and another one is blurry because I had it protected with cling wrap for the spray painting. That said, different lighting situations will make this effect do some seriously cool stuff. The less light, the cooler the effects. Definitely make this 40k Harlequin troupe stand out!

As a final note, this video is the first revamped tutorial for my dormant Crass Course series. I’m still playing around with a few things like themed fonts for the blueprints, so some things are subject to change. For future minimaking and minipainting videos of a more serious nature, these will definitely be the ones to casually teach how to do something more intricate!
