This video features a young Spotted Wood Owl at Bishan–Ang Mo Kio Park.
These owls are among Singapore’s most striking residents, often resting quietly in tall trees by day and hunting by night. Though sightings are rare, they remind us how wildlife still lives close to us.
What makes this footage especially meaningful is what happened shortly after it was filmed. The young owl’s parents were lost within days, and concerned wildlife observers and rescuers worked through the night to keep it safe.
Thanks to their effort, the owlet was eventually secured and handed over to be raised until it can return to the wild.
Filmed at Bishan–Ang Mo Kio Park using the OM System OM-1 and Olympus M.Zuiko 75–300mm lens.
