𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐏: Venice Beach Cleanup Targets Encampments and Sanitation Hazards

VENICE, CA – Friday, April 11, 2025 – A multi-agency task force carried out a coordinated cleanup at Venice Beach on Friday, as part of ongoing efforts to improve public safety and sanitation at the popular coastal destination.

The operation mobilized personnel from the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Park Rangers, Department of Public Works, County Beaches and Harbors, and environmental specialists from Clean Harbors Environmental Inc.

The focus centered on the public restrooms and surrounding beach areas, which have become frequent shelters for unhoused individuals. City officials emphasized that the effort reflects a broader commitment to improving public facilities while addressing the needs of the homeless community.

Enforcement was conducted under Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44(b), which prohibits camping in city parks and beaches. Park Rangers oversaw security and ensured compliance throughout the operation, which proceeded without major incident.

Outreach workers from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) were present, distributing food, water, and hygiene kits to those impacted by the cleanup. A representative from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office observed the operation, underscoring the city’s continued approach of pairing enforcement with supportive services.

City officials reiterated that these coordinated efforts are part of an ongoing strategy to maintain public health and accessibility at Venice Beach, while working to connect unhoused individuals with essential resources and pathways to long-term support.
