Naima kay was discovered during Ugu Jazz Auditions in Port Shepstone in 2010. Naima started singing at her High School choir Ingwemabala High School in 2005, and then the love for music grew on her. Her greatest influences are Mam’ uBusi Mhlongo, Miriam Makheba and Dorothy Masuka whom she gotto perform a song with during the 2013 edition of the Durban Jazz Festival. On Her Debut album titled ‘Umsebenzi’ Naima worked with seasoned award-winning producers, Robbie Malinga and Mjakes “Mojalefa” Thebe. The quality in the production of her debut album was validated by nominations for the Metro FM Music Awards, SATMAs and the 20th South African Music Awards in the very year, where she walked away with Newcomer of the year award. The album went GOLD. Her second album, “Ngiyavuma” also produced by the Duo, Robbie Malinga and Mjakes “Mojalefa” Thebe earned her a Metro FM Music Award for Best Female Artist in 2014.
