Here's a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Create an Account with CGFNS

Visit ncnz.cgfns.org and begin your application. You'll need at least 2 years of experience (or 1,800 hours), meet the IELTS requirements (band 7 in listening, reading & speaking, 6.5 in writing), and pay the $300 NZ application fee.

Step 2: Update Your Details

Provide your contact information, upload IDs (notarized!), educational & employment history, licensure details, and language proficiency documents. Note that you can self-declare your work experience and upload your training transcript.

Step 3: Overseas Nursing Licensure Verification

Request verification from your licensing body (e.g., Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria). Ensure your license is valid and request verification for CGFNS NZ, not the New Zealand Nursing Council.

Step 4: Confirm Your CGFNS Report

Review your CGFNS report and confirm its accuracy within 48 hours. Once confirmed, it's sent to the New Zealand Nursing Council, and you'll receive an application invitation within 24 hours.

Step 5: Apply to NZ Nursing Council & Complete Requirements

Apply to the New Zealand Nursing Council ($480 NZ fee) and request an International Criminal History Check (ICHC) through Fit2Work (link provided in your invite). Complete two e-learnings on New Zealand culture and safe healthcare practices.

Step 6: Apply for NZ Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)

Nurses outside specific countries (UK, Ireland, etc.) will require a competence assessment: an online theory exam and a two-day OSCE in New Zealand. Upon successful completion, apply for your $180 NZ Annual Practicing Certificate.

Step 7: Apply for Australian Nursing License
