Big Thicket Bigfoot expedition: Big Sandy Creek trail at sundown (1/3)

This video is part of a series of videos from our expedition into the Big Thicket National Preserve looking for evidence of Bigfoot, locally called Boogers, Wood Boogers, Swamp Apes, Skunk Apes, Wild Men, etc. (Many have local names for specific individuals, such as the Beast of Bragg Road.) These videos were made while Hurricane Hanna was moving through to the south of us.

In this video taken with my iPhone 11, we are hiking the Big Sandy Trail south of Sunflower Road. The Big Sandy Trail is 9 miles one-way, 18 miles round-trip. It follows a series of abandoned logging roads through several distinct plant communities. This multi-use trail is open to hikers, backpackers, bicyclists, and horseback riding. As we arrived at sunset, we only hiked around 2 miles in, as visitors are not supposed to be in the park after dark.

We encounter a buck on the trail that hops a short distance around a bend in the trail, waits, snorts at us, and then bounds off into the thicket. There was a strong smell of urine near where the buck had been. We find what might be a hanger, a branch with a bend in it that is hung from another branch and left "hanging" freely. We also attempt to film the moon overhead, which we happened to catch between bands of rain from the hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.
