Capping your pc’s FPS when gaming can help you get a much smoother gaming experience. If you see that your pc struggles (like getting frame drops or stutters) when playing demanding games, then capping your FPS at something lower than your average can help generate less heat, make fans quieter, and get smoother gameplay.

Depending on how low you cap your FPS you could see a little bit more input lag, which is why you shouldn’t do this for highly competitive games. But if you’re looking to set your frame rate limit then I’ve found that using MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server is the best!
