The Suite for Cello and Piano, Op. 20 (a version of the Suite for Cello and Orchestra) earned a Second Prize at the A. de Smith International Competition for Composers in Paris (1923).
Despite his late romantic style Maliszewski was successful at his time, but is completely forgotten today.
He was the teacher of the genius composer Witold Lutoslawski and the chairman of the first Chopin Piano Competition 1927 in Warsaw.
