Lacquer - 'Behind [Extended]' (2003)

Stéphane Jounot is a French electronic music artist, who uses the alias Lacquer. He grew up in the 1980s, drawing influence from the decade on his only album to date, 2003's 'Overloaded'. Released only in France on the BMG label, the album is a pretty great blend of commercial house and synth pop, featuring this track, 'Behind'. It was scheduled for single release here in the UK, but never made it beyond promo status, just like the album. Another track from the 'Overloaded' album, 'X', had been showcased by a different French label, Kitsuné Music, on the 'Kitsuné Love' compilation the previous year. Lacquer's track was later paired with a Playgroup (AKA Trevor Jackson) track for a double A-side single release to promote the collection. Very little else seems to have happened since, with only the odd compilation appearance or credit turning up thus far (he is credited with writing a track for fellow Francophile Alex Gopher's 2006 self-titled album, for example).
