In this episode, Dr. Adam explains Phosphate Conversion Coating, or Phosphating – a chemical treatment applied to various types of metals as a passivation method to improve its environmental resistance, provide lubrication or act as an adhesion layer to apply other coatings like paint.

Dr. Adam reviews the many terms that are used to describe Phosphating, but the concepts are similar. He then gives an example of how the process works, and how to choose the right phosphating process for your materials and end goals.
