LIVE: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates 125 BRO border projects including Shyok Tunnel

In a major boost to India’s border preparedness and connectivity, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 125 new infrastructure projects built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

Key highlights include:

Shyok Tunnel in Ladakh: 920-metre cut-and-cover tunnel ensuring all-weather movement for civilians and armed forces.

28 roads and 93 bridges across seven States and two UTs, including Ladakh, J&K, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Mizoram, West Bengal, and Rajasthan.

3D-printed Habitat and Administrative Complex in Chandigarh, a first-of-its-kind modern defence infrastructure.

Officials say these projects enhance troop mobility, improve logistics in sensitive frontier areas, and provide last-mile connectivity to remote villages. The BRO has now delivered 356 projects in the last two years, transforming India’s most challenging terrains into corridors of development and security.
