With Marty Reisman (1930-2012) and Jerome Charyn (author of "Sizzling Chops & Devilish Spins: Ping-Pong and the Art of Staying Alive"). This video combines selected excerpts from the 2006 documentary "Planet Ping Pong" produced and directed by Robert Murphy. It focuses on the 1952 World Table Tennis Championships, held in Mumbai, India, in which American ace Marty Reisman was eliminated in the round of 64 by the little-known Japanese player Hiroji Satoh, who was using a new type of paddle covered with foam (sponge) instead of the usual pimpled (short pips out) rubber. Reisman later managed to get his revenge by beating Satoh in a highly-publicized exhibition match on the stage of a movie theater in Osaka, Japan.
