Everything is Frozen: -13°C Hot Tent Winter Camping

This journey took me to a beautiful campsite in Northern New Jersey, right after a heavy snowfall. The sky cleared up just long enough for me to set up my basecamp, but the peace was brief. By mid-afternoon, the wind picked up, swirling the snow off the branches, and the sky turned grey as a light snow began to fall once again.

This trip was a true test of both gear and spirit. During the day, the temperature stayed around -5°C to -6°C, freezing the entire world in white. As night fell, the mercury plummeted to a bone-chilling -13°C. With the biting wind, the wind chill factor dropped to a brutal -19°C.

Through the intense cold, I was protected by my iKamper rooftop tent, the Nortent Gamme 4, and the roaring fire of my Winnerwell wood stove. From a spicy Korean Tteokbokki dinner paired with a snow-chilled ginger beer to a peaceful morning with a fragrant cup of Bacha coffee by the frozen creek, this trip was all about embracing the freeze.
