Whiskey Girl
Life keeps getting harder, nothing goes as planned,
Every choice feels like a loaded gun in her hand.
Tears well up, ready to flood like a dam,
She reaches for the whiskey,
Still shaking in her grip.
Lies she tells herself, the lies she told to him,
Hit like a searing bullet tearing her within.
Tears break loose, run burning down her cheeks,
She reaches for the whiskey,
the bottle crashing at her feet.
She don’t worry, she don’t give a care,
Long as she can take a sip from the bottle,
Hide away all her fears.
She won’t worry, she won’t lie,
Long as her glass stays full, to her all’s fine,
She’s a whiskey girl.
Looking back on her memories, sobbing over the pain,
Remembering the abuse, her silent suffering.
Tears steam from her face, painting drops on the ground,
She stumbles with the bottle, struggling from her knees.
When the bar lights dim and the music fades,
She’s alone with the things she never says,
Laughs it off, but the truth runs deep,
Some nights that bottle’s the only thing that keeps her sane.
She don’t worry, she don’t cry,
Long as that whiskey’s by her side,
Hides her fears in the amber swirl,
Glass stays full in her broken world,
She’s a whiskey girl.
