“Battotai” (抜刀隊, Drawn-Sword Regiment) is a Japanese military song composed by Charles Leroux with lyrics by Toyama Masakazu in 1885. The song, along with another military song called "Fusōka" (Song of Fusang), was adapted into the military march “Rikugun Bunretsu Kōshinkyoku” in 1912. It is one of the most famous Japanese patriotic songs of all time, and as of today it is still being used by the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the Japan Imperial Guard Headquarters for their military parade.
