Sigma Functions and Groupings: Part 4 - Advanced Window Functions

Part four of this series dives deeper into window functions and their different subcategories. Window functions are divided into four categories that relate to how they function and interact with your data. Cumulative, moving, shifting, and ranking window functions each have a different purpose and produce a unique result, but are all similar in the way they work, only on specified rows rather than entire columns. Some of Sigma’s most commonly used functions, such as the CumulativeSum() and RowNumber() functions featured in this video, are actually window functions.

Getting Started with Functions and Groupings is a series of short tutorial videos that cover some of the basics of Sigma Computing’s powerful data analysis and business intelligence capabilities. It guides new, intermediate, or even advanced Sigma users looking to refine their skills through the fundamental workflows of creating table groupings and writing formulas that use aggregate and window functions to explore data stored in a cloud data warehouse, such as Snowflake, without needing to write complex SQL.
