Jezebel: Evil Seductress or Feminist Icon?

Jezebel is synonymous with an immoral woman. A woman who is self-centered and does what she wants. This reputation comes from the book of Kings where Ahab, the King of Israel, marries a Phoenician princess from the city of Tyre named Jezebel. She's a relatively minor character in the Bible but has had a huge cultural impact. Today we explore what we can say about this figure from the few Biblical references of her as well as the extrabiblical and archaeological sources available. Is her reputation deserved? Is she more complicated than most believe? Is it a mix of both? Let's dig in.
