Documents required to get the Travel permit in Bhutan
1. Original passport or voter ID card.
(Those under the age of 18 can use a birth certificate or passport and must be accompanied by a legal guardian).
2. Passport size photo
3. Travel insurance for the duration of the trip.
You can also get the permit online by uploading these documents in JPEG format on website https://visit.doi.gov.bt
At the same time you have to pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) also.
SDF is Rs 1,200 per person, per night.
Children who have not yet turned six are exempt from paying any SDF. Children aged between 6 and who have not yet turned 12 at the time of travel receive a 50% concessionary discount on their SDF. Children aged 12 and above pay the full SDF rate.
Keep hardcopy of permit, travel insurance and original Passport/Voter ID along with you at the time of entry and exit through immigration checkpost.
