During the Cold War, Yugoslavia did not belong to either the Warsaw Pact or NATO...
It was a buffer zone between the West and the East.
Therefore, it had to have a strong army.
And a Navy.
The naval doctrine was distinguished by small, fast missile and torpedo boats, known as the naval forces for rapid action.
It was for these small missile and torpedo boats that these armored shelters were built.
Additionally, the entire Adriatic coast was lined with coastal batteries, totaling 74 of them.
The strongest Yugoslav naval stronghold was the island of Vis.
This is one of these bases - Nova Pošta on the island of Vis.
