BREAKING NEWS 🚨: A day of infamy in Uganda’s political history! The High Court in Kampala, presided over by Justice Bernard Namanya, has nullified the election of Hon. Elias Nalukoola Luyimbazi as the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North.
The judge cited two reasons:
1️⃣ That Nalukoola campaigned on election day
2️⃣ That elections were disrupted at 14 polling stations
This ruling follows a petition by NRM’s Faridah Nambi Kigongo and has sparked outrage among opposition supporters and democracy defenders.
⚠️ A dangerous precedent has now been set — it suggests that the regime can simply deploy goons to disrupt elections in areas they can't win, and then use the chaos as a reason to cancel valid victories.
😡 This decision is seen by many as absurd and politically motivated.
📢 All eyes are now on the Court of Appeal, with hope that justice will prevail and Hon. Nalukoola’s rightful victory will be restored.
