Chór Eryana – Cygańskie skrzypce (A Gypsy Violin) Tango (H. Rosner-Lira), Columbia 1932 (Polish)
NOTE: The Eryan Choir was a popular pre-war Polish revelers group based in city of Lwów. Founded in 1930 by pianist and composer Jan Ernst (alias Er Yan, Eryan), they made debut in 1931 in an academic student revue at the Lwów Nowości Theater. Enthusiastically received by the public, they began recording sessions for Columbia a year later, gaining nationwide recognition, especially when they signed with Syrena Records in 1932 and later with Odeon. They also appeared on the radio in an immensely popular comedy show, "The Merry Wave From Lwów." Unfortunately, in 1937 Chór Eryana had to suspend their activities due to the academic duties of choir director Jan Ernst. By that time, they had performed in 250 radio broadcasts, gave 1000 public concerts and recorded 104 albums for record companies. The choir returned to the stage in 1945, after World War II. They became very popular again and remained active until 1966. Their farewell concert was held in the main concert hall of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw in March 1966.
The slideshow shows some pre-war photos and posters of beautiful Lwów.
