This is Part 10 of Our DIY Umrah Experience Vlog series. In this this video, I'm continuing my "circumambulation" around the perimeter of Masjid Nabawi after stopping by Roza-e-Rasool to give my salaam to the Prophet (PBUH).
In the previous episode (Part 9), we should you around the interior of the Prophet's Mosque courtyard, while walking To Roza-e-Rasool (Rawdha Sharif) To Send Salam Upon Rasulullah SAW. The video showed you how long it will take and the amount of time in order to walk from the King Fahd gate entrance to Bab as Salam gate. I started counter-clockwise from the north, heading west and in this video I was on the south (Qibla) side.
I exited Roza Rasool through Al Baqee Gate 41. By the way, the Prophet’s Mosque has total 43 gates (doors, portals and entrance ways).
After exiting, I saw some people prayed 2 rakaat Nafl and a few people were standing outside facing the Green Dome to make du'a. The Green Dome is a green-colored dome that stands above the tombs of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the first two caliphs, Abu Bakr and Umar.
If you're staying at the five-star Zamzam Pullman (popular choice by Tabung Haji for Jemaah from Malaysia), Rua al Hijrah or Crowne Plaza in rooms with view then you can see the Green Dome directly out of the window.
After exiting I saw people we queeing and lining up to visit and pray in Raudah. The Noble Rawdah (Arabic: الروضة; “The Garden”; also “Rawda” or “Rauda”), sometimes called al-Rawdah al-Shareef (Arabic: الروضة الشريفة; “The Noble Rawdah (Garden)”) is one of the Riyadhul Jannah (Arabic: رياض الجنه; “Gardens of Paradise”; commonly transliterated as “Riyazul Jannah”) and refers to the area between the tomb of the Prophet ﷺ and his minbar.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The area between my house and my mimbar is one of the meadows of Paradise, and my mimbar is on my pond (al-Hawd)". He ﷺ also said: "My pulpit is on one of the hills of paradise."
There are different opinions about the meanings of these sayings. The majority opinion, according to Imam Malik I and many others, is that the Rawdah area is literally from Paradise.
There are signs on the pole of umbrella column stating where the line should form in, in English, Arabic and Bahasa Melayu (Malaysian / Indonesian) which says, "Area pemeriksaan izin masuk rawdah". The guards will inspect your Nusuk permit before entering. Groups using mutawif without permit will be lined up in a different section.
Can you enter Rawdah without permit? Access to the Rawdah is not allowed without a permit. To enter, you must first secure a permit - allocated time slots for both genders (male, female or men and ladies) - through the Nusuk app . This system ensures that all have a fair chance to experience this heavenly realm.
Rawdah appointments can be made via the Nusuk app for men and women. Time slots are released weekly after Jummah Prayer every friday. To be exact after 14:20pm Saudi Arabia time. You will only be able to book one slot yearly. Visiting Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa in the Prophet's Mosque is allowed only once a year, regardless of while doing Umrah or Hajj pilgrimmage.
It is a place of immense spiritual and historical significance, and contains six pillars which stand on the exact places where the original columns, made from date palm trunks, stood during the life of the Prophet ﷺ. a place where Allah's mercy and blessings are bestowed.Supplications and prayers uttered here are never rejected.
Afterwards I saw the workers cleaning the floors of the courtyards, seemed to be like a work of arts. The smell of the detergent they used is so good. I also saw some people sleeping or taking a nap in the compound, although I was told sleeping not allowed.
At the end, it was still not conclusive to me as how long it would've taken if I were to circle the perimeter non-stop. Perhaps it's over 45 minutes. The original size of the Prophet's Mosque was 1050 m2. Today, it's size is about 617 by 675 meters and will soon reach 614,000 m2 (or probably already did?).
Worthwhile to mention that the night coincided with Isra' Mi'raj.
Background: Documenting our spiritual retreat journey from USA to Madinah & Makkah. This was our first-time trip to the holy cities and we're braving ourselves to do it via a DIY (do-it-yourself) method. So we're novice and amateurs.
Our videos were meant as vlogs for friends and family, but hopefully my umrah experience can also be useful to larger audiences on how to best prepare their journey. Although not "The Ultimate Guide" or tutorial on how to perform DIY Umrah blogs, our contents should have some tips and useful guides on planning, must-have items to bring, essentials or packing list and tips, places to visit, best hotels in near both great mosques etc.
