Most garage floors are concrete slabs which rest on the ground. To have a basement under a garage, precast concrete core slabs are used to carry the heavy weight of the vehicles when parked in the garage. This video show a crew using a crane to place the precast concrete planks on the concrete foundation walls. After all the precast planks are placed, 2-3" layer of concrete is poured on top. A plumber will drill holes for the placement of floor drains. Then the tapered slots between the planks are filled with concrete followed by the 2-3" layer. This results in a smooth concrete garage floor.
